Journal 2 Education

Image
Education      After watching the video, (RSA) discussed the educational system and how this age of education was for individuals who did not receive the same level of knowledge as others. At the time, the education system was designed to allow people with privileges to attend school and then go on to college. Scholarly activity has a higher relation and value in today's school system and society than vocations. I believe that having the proper training and formal qualifications is best for teaching, but having scholarly work is useful as well. It all relies on who will be able to teach better and provide a positive classroom environment for the kids.  I say yes to Vasudevan's text because of my typing talents; I've typed for a variety of things, including academic assignments, social media, and personal journals. This is a skill I've had since seventh grade when I took a computer class, and I've utilized it in a lot of my work since then. Schoolwork and socia...

Journal 4 Rhetorical Reading

Image
Rhetorical Reading    Many of the points in Haas and Flower's diary were reading tactics, significant comments, and good reading and writing skills. When I was annotating the journal, the think-aloud process reminded me of my mother, because she once lectured me on how to think, and her method was to read the material out loud, not screaming, but loud enough for other people to hear her. She used this method because she was able to memorize the book or retain the information she had just learned after reading a list of nutrition data. Since then, I've been doing the same thing she does to see whether it works; at first, it didn't, but as I used it more frequently, I began to remember things I'd read, and it amazed me that it did work and I've never been a big fan of annotating, but I attempt to find connections with the narrative or diary I'm reading by drawing on my own experiences. For my part, I make every effort to comprehend and support the story I'm r...

Jorunal 6 FeedBack and Revision

Feedback and Revision           M y confidence when submitting my draft to the writing center was high because I didn't submit it, I'm falling behind in this class but I'm slowly coming back and will get hopefully a low "C", but if I did submit it I would feel a little scared because they thoroughly check it and I feel like I would have a lot of mistakes but I would be happy cause there showing/telling me what's wrong with it so that I can improve my paper. When giving the feedback and seeing the drafts from other students and I read and understood that doing the cites helps you understand a lot more about what they're talking about. I took only one idea and it was so topic based but I haven't finished it I saw the student's paper and I was intrigued so I decided to write about the same topic but with different sources of course cause I didn't cheat because that's not right, but mine was about online learning by watching videos, learning ...

Journal 5 Academic Searching

Image
Academic Searching      When doing certain projects in college you will end up having to find popular websites and academic sources to help make your project more understanding. The research is hard to find as there is a variety of sources that may or may not help you depending on your project. I did a project for my English 1301 class about online learning, searching for the sources was pretty easy because the topic was easy to talk about and search for. The way that I found the websites for my topic was by searching for learning games, audiobooks, and youtube videos. Kids these days are always playing video games, watching Youtube, and having their headphones on, there are many ways these kids could learn, I used to play learning games when I was younger and it was fun, I enjoyed playing the games as it made learning exciting for me. Audiobooks are a little boring for me as your just listening to the person talk, but for other people, it may be more relaxing hear...

Journal 3 Peer Review

Peer Review         The meaning of "Peer review" is the process of evaluating work by one or more people who have similar skills to the work's creators. It serves as a means for competent members of a profession to self-regulate within the relevant field which would be my English 1301 class. When doing these peer reviews on other students' work I focused more on grammar and more details on their assignments. Grammar is a very important thing to focus on as it is the language that makes it possible for us to talk about language, misspelling words, or putting different words that mean the same thing, like "because" and "cuz" these may mean the same thing but when it comes to important papers you may want to use the more appropriate version of the word. The other thing I focused on was the number of details that were put into the assignment whatever it may be. The amount of details is what keeps the audience reading and continuing to listen to your p...
