Journal 4 Rhetorical Reading

 Rhetorical Reading

Many of the points in Haas and Flower's diary were reading tactics, significant comments, and good reading and writing skills. When I was annotating the journal, the think-aloud process reminded me of my mother, because she once lectured me on how to think, and her method was to read the material out loud, not screaming, but loud enough for other people to hear her. She used this method because she was able to memorize the book or retain the information she had just learned after reading a list of nutrition data. Since then, I've been doing the same thing she does to see whether it works; at first, it didn't, but as I used it more frequently, I began to remember things I'd read, and it amazed me that it did work and I've never been a big fan of annotating, but I attempt to find connections with the narrative or diary I'm reading by drawing on my own experiences. For my part, I make every effort to comprehend and support the story I'm reading.
