Journal 3 Peer Review
Peer Review
The meaning of "Peer review" is the process of evaluating work by one or more people who have similar skills to the work's creators. It serves as a means for competent members of a profession to self-regulate within the relevant field which would be my English 1301 class. When doing these peer reviews on other students' work I focused more on grammar and more details on their assignments. Grammar is a very important thing to focus on as it is the language that makes it possible for us to talk about language, misspelling words, or putting different words that mean the same thing, like "because" and "cuz" these may mean the same thing but when it comes to important papers you may want to use the more appropriate version of the word. The other thing I focused on was the number of details that were put into the assignment whatever it may be. The amount of details is what keeps the audience reading and continuing to listen to your paper or your video, the details may be small but it depends on the number and how well to describe the assignment is what will keep the audience from leaving. If I were to grade myself as a peer-reviewer, I would grade myself a 75-85 because I don't have a lot of experience but I can for sure give feedback worth that grade. The only thing I know that I could do better is explaining myself a lot more and making it clearer for the student that I am revising. The two comments that helped me were from two of my fellow classmates the first one was "There were a few misspellings and a few run-on sentences" this one helped me fix the words that were misspelled in that assignment and also fix the sentences but I kept it in my head to fix those problems so that it won't happen again in future assignments. The other comment was "One thing you might wanna add is more connections to the persuall stories we read and annotated. One other suggestion is maybe adding more pictures and maybe some audio to really make your project more interactive". This comment was helpful as it made me think about how I can make the audience stay and enjoy my assignment, overall I think peer-reviewing helps us think about our assignments in a different way.
